This collection of Haiku is dedicated to my friend Dave, who pushed me to write beyond limits I wrongly perceived.
Thank you.
Haiku for Dave
much sadness and pain
write —
my good friend challenged me
enduring friendship
Friendship
all gold and silver in the world is nothing — compared to true friendship
Compassion
compassion
caring
sharing
helping those different from you —
don’t stop
Daisy
from a seed that’s nurtured
and cared for
emerges a flower —
daisy
Mariposa
out of her cocoon
into the light...
transformation —
a butterfly

I'm not sure if you challenged yourself by saying you'd use 17 syllables, or just counted up what you had. Either way, well done. Voting this Up and Awesome.

This is very beautiful. I love how you broke it down as you progressed. That was a very interesting way to do it, but it turned out wonderfully!
I fully agree that this was far more meaningful. You took the poems and made it into a story with each individual one having a story as well. I really did enjoy how you put it together!
Beautiful... beautiful indeed! Wonderful poetry
I realize I have read and commented on this Daisy. You're probably surprised to see me here again. The thing is - I needed to think about something beautiful today to take my mind off the arthritis pain. I knew your lovely poetry would bring me what I needed. So thank you again. And I wish I could direct 300 people to you. I'm working on 25 for a start! :-)
Came back for another read--just lovely!

You managed to convey your thoughts in just a few verses. I need to work on compassion myself. It sometimes slips away from me. Loved it all!
